Carefree Manor is a
privately owned park, located in Apache Junction, AZ, on the far east
side of Phoenix. It's between Brown Rd. and University, on the corner
of Delaware and Tepee Rds. There are beautiful mountain views in almost
every direction. The park has been here for quite a number of years, and
isn't as modern as some we've visited. However, you can't beat either
the friendliness of the people, or the price. We stayed here 4 times in
the first 7 months of our first year on the road, so they must be doing
something right! An Escapees discount is given.
Many sites have some desert
vegetation, including many cactus varieties. I believe all the sites
are back-ins. The majority of the spaces are roomy, and there are many
year-round rentals with either park models or 5th wheels left in place.
There is a pool hall, laundry, and community center. There are many
activities in the center, and even those staying only a short time are
welcome to join those.
There is WiFi available, and
it's $10 per week. If WiFi is important, tell them when you check in.
There are places that aren't covered. The strength of the WiFi depends
on how many people are using it at one time, and we found times when it
was completely dead. Late at night, it's fast and wonderful!
