Susan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: intro From: "dee" Date: Wed, 16 Jun 1999 22:34:03 -0500 Hi, just joined tonight! I teach 6th graders in a departmentalized jr. = high and am looking forward to participating in this list. What do the buddies do? Denise Funfsinn 6th grade Earlville School Earlville, IL dkfunfsinn@tsf.net ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Re: 6Traits- First assignment From: "Reece H. Martin" Date: Wed, 16 Jun 1999 20:51:18 -0700 I am a 5th grade teacher at a traditional school in Arizona. I don't know if this is a formal class or what, but we received 6 trait training as = part of our in services this past year and I am familiar with it. May I participate with this exchange, or am I limited to watching? I am a NAU graduate student taking a research class on the internet, and was required to sign up for a ONElist (that's how I found you!). Please let me know what the story is... Thanks! Vanessa Martin martin@goodnet.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: All done! Next job From: Susan Nixon <susan@desertskyone.com> Date: Wed, 16 Jun 1999 21:58:03 -0700 All the buddies that I have, unless I lost someone, are now done. Most of you are in 2s, some in 3s and a few in 4s. I think I mixed up two people named Fran, so if I said something that didn't make sense, ignore it. =3D) I think I put someone in two groups. If those are the only mistakes I made, I'll be really lucky! Let me know if I did something you can't figure out. Next job - get to know your buddies. I put the e-mail addy of all buddies in the body of the message as well as the address, so you should be able = to reach everyone. Do not mail these messages to the list, just to each other. You are going to do a lot of things together, and it will be = easier if you know a little bit about each other. Where possible, I put close geographic locations together. It wasn't always possible. Sorry, John, all the guys on the list are in different grade levels, so you'll have to be the thorn among the roses. =3D) If you did not request an online buddy, please make sure that you have either a real life buddy or have hooked up with someone on the list on = your own. It will be much more difficult for you to do everything alone. Thanks so much for your patience as we get the list started. Just a few reminders. 1) Unless your post is meant to go to the whole list (that is, it applies to everyone - as in a list discussion of a topic), please do not hit the automatic reply key. Reply directly to the person. 2) Please do sign all your messages with your name, your grade level and your location. We have people from all over the US and Canada on the = list. Several people have the same first names. We need to keep you straight in our minds. As you *voice* comes out over the next few weeks, it will become easier. =3D) 3) Do not be afraid to ask questions. We want our students to be risk takers, but sometimes that's very hard for us to model. 4) In order to make risk taking safer, please do not flame (name call, dis, whatever) anyone on the list. If you have a problem with someone, please write to me directly, not on the list. I will be happy to practice my mediation skills, should it become necessary. =3D) I probably didn't need to mention number 4, but better safe than sorry. = =3D) Okay, make new friends!
